Our journey to January 25th has really begun. Pastor Juan in Tecpan has selected the family that will receive the house. I wanted to introduce you to them.
We will build a house for Etelvina’s family (pictured above). She is a 41-year old single mom, whose husband abandoned her, and their two children. She lives on $9 a month from a job cleaning and making tortillas.
Her two children are Helen (15 years old/6th Grade) and Antony (12 years old/4th Grade).
Pastor Juan says that they usually just eat lunch and something small at night.
The house will cost $2,800, which includes all materials for the house, concrete foundation, bunk bed, ONIL stove, and Pila (water basin). We will try to gather some important household items as the trip approaches. We will need bed linens (three beds), eating utensils, plates and bowls (durable plastic is best), clothes hooks, backpacks, and a few gifts for each of the family members. If you feel led to help with any of these, please let me know.
Their housing situation is desperate. As you can see from the picture, rain and wind are constant problems. Please help us give this family a safe, dry and warm place to call home.
We will keep you posted on the family as we learn more. Thank you for your willingness to help.
Dios te Bendiga,
